How to change the default words and phrases in Moodle

Occasionally you may wish to adjust some of the default words and phrases in Moodle.

Here are step by step details on how to do this.

1. Log into your Moodle site as an admin user, and navigate to the Language customization option: Settings > Site administration > Language > Language customization

2. From the drop down menu, select ‘English’ and then click ‘Opem language pack for editing’.

3. Use the “filter strings” form to find strings you want to customise for your Moodle site.
NB: Not selecting any filters will display all strings in the language pack.

4. Enter the word(s) or phrase that you want to replace in the ‘only strings containing’ field eg. password (as in this example).
